Your Story Could Be Here
Know someone who needs a prosthetic? Submit a request and they could be our first success story.
Submit a Request →3D Helping Hands is a nonprofit providing custom 3D-printed prosthetic devices at no cost to those in need — humans and animals alike. Powered by volunteers, funded by donations.
Traditional prosthetics can cost anywhere from $5,000 to $100,000. Many insurance companies won't cover low-cost alternatives, leaving people without options. We believe no one — human or animal — should go without a prosthetic because of cost.
Using affordable 3D printing technology, we produce prosthetics for a fraction of traditional costs — often under $50 in materials.
Every prosthetic we create is provided completely free of charge. We operate 100% on donations from people who believe in our mission.
We serve both humans and animals. From children born with limb differences to dogs and cats who've lost a leg — everyone deserves mobility.
All our designs are open source, built on proven models from the e-NABLE community. Anyone with a 3D printer can help.
Traditional prosthetics are prohibitively expensive. Even when companies try to make affordable alternatives using 3D printing, they often end up at price points of $5,000-$7,000 — still too much for many families and still too cheap for insurance companies to cover.
This creates a gap where people who need prosthetics the most are left without options. Children outgrow prosthetics quickly, making repeated expensive purchases unrealistic. Animals are rarely covered by any form of insurance.
Our solution: Remove cost entirely. By using volunteer labor, donated materials, and open-source designs, we can provide prosthetics for the cost of filament — and we cover that too.
Transparency matters. Here's exactly where we are right now.
We're brand new and building from the ground up. Be one of our first volunteers or donors — every early supporter makes a huge difference.
Getting a free prosthetic is straightforward. We've made the process as simple as possible.
Fill out our simple request form with details about who needs the prosthetic — whether it's for a person or an animal. Include photos and measurements if possible.
Our team reviews your request, selects the best open-source model, and customizes the fit. We may reach out for additional measurements or details.
A volunteer prints and assembles the prosthetic. Most prints take 24-48 hours, with assembly adding another day.
We ship the completed prosthetic directly to you at no cost. We also provide fitting instructions and ongoing support.

Whether it's for yourself, a loved one, or a pet — fill out the form below and we'll get started. There is absolutely no cost to you.
Have a 3D printer? Design skills? Just want to help? We need volunteers to print, assemble, and deliver prosthetics to those in need.
If you have a 3D printer, you can print prosthetic parts from home. We provide the files and instructions — you provide the prints.
Help put together printed parts into functional prosthetics. We provide detailed guides and all necessary hardware.

We're just getting started, but soon this space will be filled with real stories of people and animals whose lives were changed by a 3D printed prosthetic.

Yes, 100% free. We cover all costs including materials, printing, assembly, and shipping. We are funded entirely by donations from generous supporters.
After we review your request and finalize the design (1-2 weeks), printing takes 24-48 hours and assembly about a day. Total turnaround is typically 2-4 weeks depending on complexity and customization needed.
Yes! Our prosthetics are printed with PLA or PETG plastics that are strong and lightweight. They're designed for daily use. And if anything breaks, we'll print a replacement for free.
We'll try our best! We have established designs for dogs and cats, and we've also worked on prosthetics for birds, rabbits, and other animals. Submit a request and we'll evaluate what's possible.
No referral is needed. Anyone can submit a request. However, we do recommend consulting with a healthcare provider or veterinarian to ensure a 3D printed prosthetic is a good fit for the specific situation.
We'll work with you until it's right. That's one of the great things about 3D printing — we can quickly adjust the design and print a new one at minimal cost. We offer free adjustments and replacements.
There are many ways to help! You can donate, share our mission on social media, help with assembly, assist with 3D design, or connect us with people in need. Every bit helps.
Yes — we're a nonprofit corporation registered with the Florida Division of Corporations (Sunbiz). We have not yet received federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, so donations are not tax-deductible at this time. Every dollar still goes directly to creating prosthetics for those in need.
